Heritage Project Interview: Reflection Paper

  1. Using Microsoft Word, respond to the following questions in double-spaced format:
    1. What was your initial impression of the Heritage Project? Were you nervous about conducting the interview? Intimidated? Excited? Why did you feel this way?
    2. Describe the interview process – How did your interviewee react when you asked him/her to assist you with the project? Was she/he nervous? Excited?
    3. What things surprised you about the interview process? Did you learn anything new about the person you interviewed? If so, what did you learn?
    4. What was the most valuable aspect of this assignment?
    5. What did you enjoy most about this assignment? What did you like least?
    6. What advice would you offer to future students completing this assignment?

What is a Memoir????

Noun:

  1. A historical account or biography written from personal knowledge.
  2. An autobiography or a written account of one's memory of certain events or people
MY MEMOIR BOOK PROJECT due: 12/16


A. You may choose from the following topics below or you may choose your own but please have your topic approved before writing.

B. Each memoir needs to be at least 7-10 sentences long. The memoirs must be full of detail using descriptive words using all your senses.

C. These writings will be placed in a "scrapbook".These scrapbooks can be done by hand, in imovie, powerpoint, or free online with shutterfly or other online sources.

D. Please have your work edited from a peer, parent, or teacher. You will be graded on the following criteria:a. Creative word choiceb. following good sentence structurec. spelling words correctly

F. Send you memoir scrapbooks to our email (dleatherman@joplin.k12.mo.us and ahallmark@joplin.k12.mo.us)

I. All memoirs will be required to be in a scrapbook that is either an electronic scrapbook or a handmade one. You must also include a cover page and back page. Each page must include one graphic or picture. (a grading rubric will be posted by the end of this week Dec. 2)

Mrs. Hallmark's Assignment for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hours on 2/20/2012

1. Please tell students that we will finish the movie upon my return

2. All assignments need to be emailed to me – ahallmark@joplin.k12.mo.us

3. Students need to open a Word document and respond to the following prompts (all parts of the assignment should be in one document):

a. Who is the protagonist of the movie?

b. Give examples to identify stages of the plot so far – Exposition and Rising Action

c. Use five adjectives to describe the protagonist

d. Use five adjectives to describe the protagonist’s situation

e. Use five adjectives to describe the protagonist’s son

f. Summarize what we have watched so far in 7-10 sentences

g. Read the following quote from the movie (as said by the protagonist):

“It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking, how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what.”


-Do you agree with this quote or disagree? Why or why not?

-Answer in at least TWO PARAGRAPHS (7-10 sentences each)

h. Imagine that you are in the protagonist’s situation – What would you do? Answer in at least ONE PARAGRAPH

i. Pretend that you know the protagonist; what advice would you give him right now?

i. Write a letter to the protagonist offering your advice and encouragement

ii. The letter needs to include an introduction, two paragraphs (body of the letter), and a closing
